  • Q: Is there any way to browse entries? Why don't you have an index?

A: The Bush in 30 Years voting site doesn't provide an index of entries in order to prevent folks from getting their friends to vote up their Flash. We're looking for the entries with the broadest appeal, not those submitted by the most popular people. When voting is over, we'll definitely post the top Flash entries so that everyone can see them.

Q: Do I need to vote on all of the entries?

A: Nope. Our software selects entries to be viewed in a random order, so votes are spread out over the whole pool of entries. Just view as many as you like, and other users will view the entries you haven't.

Q: I submitted an entry. Why can't I get my friends to vote for it? OR: My friend submitted an entry. How can I find his or her Flash to vote on it?

A: If you're looking for your friend's Flash to vote on it, we've made that intentionally hard to do. We're looking for the entries with the broadest appeal, not the entries submitted by the most popular people. So, while contestants can certainly share their Flash entries with their friends using the "Send this Flash to a friend" function, when people are rating entries they'll be shown them in a random order, without an index. It's all for the greater good.

Q: Can I submit more than one entry?

A: Absolutely! You're welcome to submit as many entries as you like.

Q: What software do I need to view the entries?

A: You will need Macromedia's free Flash Player software (version 7). You can download that on Macromedia's website (http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer).

Q: I submitted an entry, but it doesn't appear on the site. Can you tell me why?

A: We've limited public voting to 50 semi-finalists selected by a team of MoveOn staff and volunteers in order to share the best entries with the public while minimizing security risks. Rest assured, every entry was viewed by numerous people before deciding on the top 50.

Q: Won't people just vote on the first few entries and leave the other entries out?

A: Since entries are shown to any given user in a random order, your "first few entries" will differ entirely from someone else's. Ratings are spread out over the entire pool of semi-finalists, although entries which are ranked higher are shown a bit more frequently.

Q: Why aren't you letting the public judge all entries?

A: To ensure the public voting has the highest security standards, we're reviewing each entry we post. We could only thoroughly review a limited number of entries, so we selected the 50 best.

Q: Why do you require Macromedia Flash?

A: We had to decide on one standard which would work for most users. Flash fit the bill.

Q: The Flash entries take too long to download. Any way to speed this up?

A: Problems with download time are probably on your end, unfortunately, which means there's not much we can do about it. All entries are limited to 5 MB and have been compressed to the smallest size that preserves their quality.

Q: I'm having trouble using/navigating your website. What can I do?

A: Our site works best when you use the latest version of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Safari. Upgrading to the latest version should solve any kinks you're encountering.

Q: How do I add a customized petition link to my Flash entry?

A: We highly recommend adding a customized link to your Flash to urge viewers to sign the petition. This is one of five categories used to determine your entry's rating. For instructions, click here.

Q: My question wasn't answered here. What can I do to get some help?

A: You can send us any remaining questions by clicking here. While we probably won't be able to answer your question individually, we'll incorporate it into the next version of this FAQ so check back often.

Q: I submitted my Flash, but it didn't seem to go through. How do I know you've received my Flash?

A: All entrants who submit Flash entries will receive email confirmation. If you don't receive an email confirmation after submitting your Flash (remember, it may take up to an hour to upload), please try once more. If you still receive no email confirmation, contact us by clicking here. Please double check that you are using the latest version of your browser.

Q: I have a question that isn't answered here. What do I do?

A: Please contact us. We can't answer every question individually, so we'll answer the most common in this FAQ.
